Events

September is a busy month for the group starting with Tuesday 13 September, a lunchtime meeting with Mark Gilbert, London Bureau Chief at Bloomberg News.

A new event – Tomorrow’s Talent – will take place on the evening of Monday 19 September 2011. This is for those new to the industry who would like to meet their peers and have a chance to talk to industry experts over drinks. There are just a few spaces left.

You are also invited to the VMA Group’s 2011 Communications in Financial Services Report launch in association with the CIPR Corporate and Financial Group on the evening of Wednesday 28 September. This is a study of communications in the financial services market with some of the initial results highlighting key industry trends.

We have started to receive bookings for our annual dinner on Thursday 3 November with Peter Barron, Head of Communications, Google.  We expect this to be a sell out again so do please book early.

Lunchtime speaker meetings are £15 for members; and £20 for guests on the first occasion and £25 for subsequent meetings.  We are grateful to AXA for hosting the 2011 speaker programme.

Priority booking for members

In view of the heavy demand for some of the more popular lunchtime meetings, we have decided to restrict places to one guest per member. Additional guests will go on the waiting list with places released two weeks before the meetings. Members will be given priority for the visits. To avoid disappointment, I encourage you to join the group either through the CIPR or directly – please contact sueowen@corporate-financial.com for details.

Money saving and CPD 

You can buy a book of vouchers for the speaker lunches and make a 10 per cent saving. You are entitled to 5 CPD points for attending the meetings too.

Members between jobs  

Members between jobs can attend meetings free of charge – it is a great way of networking and keeping in touch and members have found jobs though the group network.

Through the Thicket – a guide to financial PR

If you wish to buy copies of the third edition of Through the Thicket, the Group’s guide to financial PR (a summary of the rules and regulations for those doing PR for listed companies), please email sueowen@corporate-financial.com  Cost £15 with discounts for larger quantities.

Communication with other members

We now have 368 members of the Corporate and Financial Group LinkedIn group and this is growing. People are using it for discussions and to flag up events and jobs.
