Corporate and Financial Group wins award!
The Corporate and Financial Group has won an award. The CIPR has chosen the group as the best sector group of the year. In its citation, the CIPR said: “The group continued to run their high quality and well attended monthly speaker programme, which featured speakers in 2010 to include Rt Hon John McFall MP, Treasury Select Committee; Richard Alderman, Serious Fraud Office and Edward McBride, The Economist. The committee also organised visits to The Guardian and No 10 Downing Street (which was an instant sell-out). The group also updated their financial PR guidelines at the end of 2010, with the new version of 'Under [sic] The Thicket' launched in early 2011.”

Our 2011/2012 programme continues to be of a very high calibre with several events fully booked.
Coming up are: on Tuesday 13 September, a lunchtime meeting with Mark Gilbert, London Bureau Chief at Bloomberg News, and our annual dinner on Thursday 3 November with Peter Barron, Head of Communications, Google.
A new event – Tomorrow’s Talent – will take place on the evening of Monday 19 September 2011. This is for those new to the industry who would like to meet their peers and to have a chance to talk to industry experts over drinks. More information will be released shortly but do email email@example.com now if you would like to reserve a place as spaces for all these events are limited.

Lunchtime speaker meetings are £15 for members; and £20 for guests on the first occasion and £25 for subsequent meetings. We are grateful to AXA for hosting the 2011 speaker programme.
Priority booking for members
In view of the heavy demand for some of the more popular lunchtime meetings, we have decided to restrict places to one guest per member. Additional guests will go on the waiting list with places released two weeks before the meetings. Members will be given priority for the visits. To avoid disappointment, I encourage you to join the group either through the CIPR or directly – please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Money saving and CPD
You can buy a book of vouchers for the speaker lunches and make a 10 per cent saving. You are entitled to 5 CPD points for attending the meetings too.
Members between jobs
Members between jobs can attend meetings free of charge – it is a great way of networking and keeping in touch and members have found jobs though the group network.
Through the Thicket – a guide to financial PR

Communication with other members
We now have 350 members of the Corporate and Financial Group LinkedIn group and this is growing. People are using it for discussions and to flag up events and jobs.
