2018 lunchtime meetings - Peter Thal Larsen, EMEA Editor of Reuters Breakingviews is the first lunchtime speaker on 9 January and Oliver Shah is speaking to the group on 13 February - he is the City Editor of The Sunday Times.

Our speaker on 9 January is Peter Thal Larsen, EMEA Editor of Reuters Breakingviews

Peter previously spent four years in Hong Kong as Asia Editor. Prior to joining Reuters, Peter spent 10 years at the Financial Times. From 2004 to 2009 he was the FT’s banking editor, leading the paper’s award-winning coverage of global banking during the credit crunch. Between 2000 and 2004 Peter reported for the FT from New York. He played a leading role in the paper’s coverage of the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath. A Dutch national, Peter has degrees from Bristol University and the London School of Economics. Oliver Shah is speaking to the group on 13 February - he is the City Editor of The Sunday Times. He was named business journalist of the year at the 2017 Press Awards for his investigation into Sir Philip Green’s £1 sale of BHS. The judges described it as ‘the standout business story of the year’ and said that his ‘bravery [and] doggedness… brought the whole BHS affair to the public consciousness’. He was also named business journalist of the year at the 2017 London Press Club Awards. Oliver has been interviewed on Radio Four’s Today Programme, BBC News, BBC Five Live and Sky News.

He attended Reading grammar school and studied English literature at Cambridge University between 2002 and 2005. He worked for various trade magazines before completing a postgraduate qualification in newspaper journalism at City University in 2008. He then joined the London business daily City AM in 2009 and The Sunday Times in 2010.
